Met een interview door Laura Herman biedt de publicatie extra inzicht in de tentoonstelling en de ideeën erachter.

Voor hun solotentoonstelling in Z33 maakten Daniel Dewar & Grégory Gicquel een monumentaal zijdeschilderij dat zich uitstrekte over de vijf zalen van de historische architectuur van Vleugel 58. Daarnaast toonden ze een nieuwe reeks sculpturen in steengoed en roze marmer, als aanvulling op dit meeslepende, waterrijke tafereel.

De artistieke samenwerking van Daniel Dewar & Grégory Gicquel roept met een monumentale aanpak van ambacht een eigentijdse landelijke wereld op. Ze hechten veel belang aan vakmanschap en ontwikkelen vaak eigen technieken voor het maken van unieke kunstwerken.

For their solo exhibition at Z33, Daniel Dewar & Grégory Gicquel embarked on the production of a monumental silk painting, which streamed through the five galleries of the historic Vleugel 58. As companions to this immersive aquatic scene, Dewar & Gicquel presented a new series of sculptures made of stoneware ceramics and pink marble.

Daniel Dewar & Grégory Gicquel’s collaborative art practice evokes a contemporary pastoral world through a monumental approach to craft practices. They place a high value in artisanal techniques to produce their artworks, often developing bespoke processes for the creation of singular works.
