English summary: The protection of future generations constitutes the key focus of jurisprudential debates on sustainability and intergenerational equity. Michael Kleiber addresses the question of whether or not and to what extent one can refer to basic rights in order to protect future generations. Can there be protection of basic rights without a legal entity? What are the difficulties in balancing the legal status of living and future people? In order to meet the key challenges of his investigation the author draws on aspects of moral philosophy, legal theory and on the dogmatics of basic rights. Based on the Prinzipientheorie (theory of principles) he develops a system that brings together various versions of norm-theoretical constructions. Kleiber concludes that the interests of future generations in the form of the basic rights they are entitled to are already to be considered in today's debates on aspects of constitutional law.
