The practices of adventure-based counseling and adventure education have fourished in the past years in Hong Kong. Originally completed in 1996 by the author and then archived by the Hong Kong Institute of Adventure Counseling, this co-constructive applied research project was perhaps the first batch of adventure-based collaborative research done in the Hong Kong context. Using combined research methods and action research practice, this program evaluative study investigates the social-psychological effects that adventure-based counseling could impact upon the self-formation of the youth-at-risk in Hong Kong. This study should be of interests to youth workers, counselors, practical psychologists, teachers and researchers as well as adventure trainers.
