Der Band ist konzipiert als Grundlagenwerk für das Gesamtfach der Anglistik/Amerikanistik, das von führenden Fachvertreterinnen und Fachvertretern in seinen wichtigsten Bereichen und Teilfächern dargestellt wird - Englische Literatur, Amerikanische Literatur, Neue Englische Literaturen; Literatur- und Kulturtheorie; Kulturwissenschaften; Analyse literarischer Texte aller Gattungen, von Filmen und kulturellen Phänomen; Sprachwissenschaft; Fachdidaktik.
