Most importantly identifying specific genetic risk factor and applying genetic information and technology to the diagnosis, prevention, and therapeutic strategies of periodontitis is academically appealing and conceptually compelling, but there is an equal significant need for the clinician to maintain a realistic prospective of the clinical utility of genetic information.
