This book contains the Precinct histories of the seven counties in the Jackson Purchase, (which originally were Indian lands located in the extreme southwestern corner of the state bordering Missouri, Tennessee and Illinois) and 740 biographical sketches of individuals in the following counties: Ballard, Calloway, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, McCracken and Marshall. The index mentions approximately 14,500 persons
