I call Humanistic Psychology (1955–1975) 'holistic psychology. What emerged next, 1975-1995, improved and expanded on earlier psychology in every way, in too many ways to name. Many new theories and methods were brought into final professional-grade form. While 1975-1995 is the focus, contributions made from the 1890s, 1950s, 1960s, and early 1970s are also considered.
This book summarizes and provides access to Holistic Psychology's "greatest hits," its most enduring developments and achievements. Many HP2.0 topics can be conceived of as Best hands-on Practices in interpersonal competency, group process and conflict resolution.
In the field of psychology, counseling and therapy, Cultural Creatives everywhere are still grappling to learn and pass on to younger generations these Best Practices and Best Methods. In 2026, we are still living in; and adapting to, the new theories and methods of HP2.0. I speculate these theories and methods will remain courses of study for the next 50 years or more.
A goal of HP2.0 is internal and external balance on many levels. As simple awareness:
We balance between our habits and our free choice,
We balance between our two brain hemispheres,
We balance between our gut-brain and head-brain,
We balance between an Inner and Outer Games of Life,
We balance between habits on each level PACME,
We each balance between Three Selves,
We balance between Three Sciences we use everyday,
We balance between multiple internal intelligences.
To what end? Towards whole-brainedness with a heartfelt look and feel. This is the endgame of Holistic Psychology 2.0.
