Breast cancer is the primary cancer among women globally and has impacted 2.1 million women annually. It accounts for 1 in 4 cases in women and it is estimated that 627,000 women died of breast cancer in 2018 which is approximately 15% of all cancer deaths among women. The purpose of this book is thus to increase awareness about breast cancer and to educate people about it, particularly women, in order to reduce fatalities.

This book will be of benefit to you if you who want to know more about breast cancer and also if you have been diagnosed with it. By reading this book you will acquire an in depth understanding of breast cancer, menopause and hormone therapy. You will get insight about the types of breast cancer, the relationship between menopause and breast cancer, and how drugs are employed in relation to the status of menopause. Furthermore, the side effects of the different drugs will also be discussed. By educating yourself about the disease, you will improve your chances of being successfully treated should you be diagnosed with it.

I am a PhD research scientist trained in the area of synthetic organic chemistry and coordination chemistry. My research has been at the interface of chemistry and biology with a strong focus on medicinal chemistry.

I have personally experienced the impact of cancer in my family and several have died due to breast, lung and colon cancer. My father was diagnosed with colon cancer several years ago; fortunately the polyps were successfully removed though surgery and he is still alive today.

I have led and managed research projects particularly focused on human and animal health. My experience of the impact of cancer while growing up led me to pursue research to discover novel medicinal agents that can be used to treat cancer. I have published several research articles in international journals in the field of cancer drug discovery. I have a very strong interest in this devastating disease and my aim is to increase awareness and educate the general public about it.
