English summary: By combining images or pictures with texts, mnemonic and emblematic art generates and stores knowledge, and they constituted the essential forms of early modern knowledge culture. Their reception over long periods of time created a link between the content, images and words and thus generated new topoi; the messages of emblematic or mnemonic images are recognised in their respective combinations, and these set, complex codifications become an integral part of cultural knowledge. At the same time, this form of knowledge linking by combining image and text forms the basis for the way emblematic and mnemonic art functions. While their approaches differ, their text-image combinations serve the same interests and societal demands: the arrangement, organisation, and storage of information. It is the aim of this monograph, which covers the period from the 15th to the 18th century, to describe the underlying rules of correlation systematically and chronologically. German description: Mnemonik und Emblematik erzeugen und speichern durch die Kombination von Imagines bzw. Picturae mit Texten Wissen und stellen die entscheidenden Formen fruhneuzeitlicher Wissenskultur dar. Durch uber langere Zeitraume dauernde Rezeption binden sich Inhalte an Bilder und Worte und generieren damit einen Topos; die Aussage eines emblematischen oder mnemonischen Bildes wird in der Kombination wiedererkannt und aus einer gesetzten, komplexen Kodifizierung wird ein fester Bestandteil kulturellen Wissens. Dieses Binden von Wissen durch die Kombination von Bild und Text bildet zugleich die Grundlage fur das Funktionieren von Emblematik und Mnemonik. Beide Bereiche bedienen durch ihre Text-Bild-Kombinationen bei unterschiedlicher Herangehensweise dieselben Interessen und gesellschaftlichen Anforderungen: das Ordnen, Organisieren und Speichern von Information. Wie die dahinter liegenden Korrelationsregeln aussehen, stellt diese Monographie aus systematischer und chronologischer Perspektive dar. Der zeitliche Rahmen wird dabei vom 15. bis zum 18. Jahrhundert gespannt.
