Description

One of the major works by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky of her views on esotericism. Although this work has drawn a lot of criticism for the claims that Blavatsky makes in the two volumes, this text cannot be denied for its importance in Western Esotericism and its effects on what is now known as the New Age movement. Blavatsky had this influence on the current New Age occultism by drawing elements from Hindu philosophy and mysticism into Western Occultism which up until this time was dominated by Hermetic thought.

Even though Blavatsky's claims are spurious and at times wrong, many still hold these volumes to be some of the most influential books on esotericism in the same way that Eliphas Levi was an undeniably influential voice on esoteric thought. Even though Blavatsky's claims are questionable, she does provide much more information on particular occultic thoughts that were typically scattered all over many different volumes of which contemporary occultists of Blavatsky's day had not touched or been able to talk about in a collected way such as this. Blavatsky's thinking process can be hard to follow but understanding her rationale in the arguments presented as they are reveals a great deal of information to anyone wanting to inquire deeper into Western Esoteric thought and the beliefs behind modern occultism.

This is Volume two of two.
