In Book 4 of Kingdoms of Mu, the fragile recovery after the great plague is shattered as a far greater threat emerges. From the east, the powerful warlord Xerxes and his vast Zephyrian army prepare to invade, aided by the treacherous Decimus, who betrays Mu for power. As tensions rise, old rivalries among the ruling families—Aurelius, Valerius, Junius, and others—are forced aside in the face of annihilation.
Leonardo Aurelius prepares both for war and for the preservation of knowledge, sending the sacred Ark of Aura away to safeguard their legacy. Across Mu, leaders like Apiata and Elias rally their people, forging uneasy alliances and readying armies, ships, and defenses. Villages train for survival, ancient technologies and forgotten knowledge resurface, and new weapons are created in desperation.
Meanwhile, internal divisions persist, threatening unity at a critical moment. As Xerxes' terrifying fleet approaches and dark alliances solidify, the kingdoms must decide whether to stand together or fall separately.
The book builds toward an inevitable, large-scale conflict, emphasizing sacrifice, leadership, and unity as the fate of Mu hangs in the balance.
