The use of lasers has been proposed as an adjunctive method for surgical periodontal therapy. The most important characteristic of the diode laser is the wavelength, as wavelength determines how the laser light will interact with target tissue.Diode laser with wavelength between 655 nm and 980nm is able to accelerate wound healing, promote angiogenesis, augment growth factor release and prevent root surface ablation. It has a bactericidal effect and helps to reduce inflammation in periodontal pockets.The aim of the present study was to compare diode laser assisted periodontal flap with conventional periodontal flap in the surgical treatment of chronic periodontitis
