English summary: The Franciscan theologian Wilhelm von Ockham (1347), the "most brilliant of all scholastics" (Luther) put forward a doctrine of predestination which satisfied the requirements of traditional doctrine as well as his personal appreciation of the freedom of choice. Michael Beyer describes Ockham's doctrine of predestination and recognizes it as part of a well thought-out theological system that has no equal in terms of logical clarity. Within this system, the doctrine of predestination and justification always form a unity. Given that Luther's teachers in Erfurt had still been significantly influenced by the thinking of the Venerable Inceptor, this study may also make a contribution to a better understanding of the origins of Luther's theology. German description: Freiheit ist das Problem jeder traditionellen Pradestinationslehre: Es gibt keine; zumindest keine echte, die wesentlichen Dinge des Lebens betreffende. Dem Franziskanertheologen Wilhelm von Ockham (1347) aber war es ein besonderes Anliegen, den als Wahlfreiheit verstandenen freien Willen zu bewahren. Darum legte der "genialste aller Scholastiker" (Luther) eine Pradestinationslehre vor, die sowohl den Vorgaben der Tradition als auch seiner personlicher Hochschatzung der Wahlfreiheit gerecht wurde. Michael Beyer stellt Ockhams Pradestinationslehre dar und zeigt sie dabei als Teil eines wohldurchdachten theologischen Systems, das an logischer Klarheit seinesgleichen sucht. Pradestinations- und Rechtfertigungslehre begegnen darin stets als Einheit. Da noch Luthers Erfurter Lehrer erheblich vom Denken des Venerabilis Inceptor gepragt waren, mag diese Studie uberdies einen Betrag dazu leisten, den Ausgangspunkt von Luthers Theologie besser zu verstehen.
