Für die mittelalterliche Geschichte des Deutschen Ordens lässt sich eine relativ reichhaltige Überlieferung heranziehen. Zu den interessantesten Beständen zählen die Ordensfolianten in der XX. Hauptabteilung des Geheimen Staatsarchivs Preußischer Kulturbesitz in Berlin, die aber – anders als andere relevante Fonds – nur unzureichend und nicht in gedruckten Repertorien erschlossen sind. Der vorliegende Band erfasst nunmehr den Inhalt des einzigen erhaltenen Briefregisters mit der ausgehenden Korrespondenz des Hochmeisters Paul von Rusdorf aus den Jahren 1433–1438 und kann somit einen Beitrag dazu leisten, die komplexen Beziehungen des Ordens sowohl zu Polen-Litauen wie auch zu seinen anderen Nachbarn, zu Kaiser, Papst und Basler Konzil sowie zu den anderen europäischen Mächten zu erhellen.

The medieval history of the Teutonic Knights can be gathered from a relatively rich corpus of materials. One of the most important collections is in the Geheimes Staatsarchiv Preußischer Kulturbesitz Berlin, XX. Hauptabteilung, but there are only partly printed calendars and repertories. This holds especially true for the registers and books in the group of the "Ordensfolianten". This book calendars the registers with letters from the Grand Master Paul von Rusdorf in the period from 1433 to 1438 which allows insights into the complex relationship of the Teutonic Order to Poland-Lithuania and its other neighbours as well as to the Emperor, Pope, and the Council of Basle and the European powers.
