Finishing up a shakedown cruise following a long refit, Dath Raker, captain of Tenacity, is ready to rejoin the fight against the Star Empire of Golgotha. The last thing he expects is orders to rush to the furthest reaches of the galactic frontier to answer a distress call from a Golgothan colony.

The rim of the galaxy is no man's land. The Golgothan-settled world, Thulia, has a sparse population, little industry, and few defenses.
