Story 400 is a collection of poetry written by writer and musician, A.C. Walker. In August 2019, she began writing this book at 25 years old with the intention of reflecting on history and modernity. In 1619, the first group of African people were taken to North America. 400 years later A.C.Walker reflects on 1/12 of this historical timeline with roots in Africa and Europe. Her reflections are on love, progress, trauma, celebration, ecology, music, history, and the promise for tomorrow.
I found these lyrics and poems in the midst of transformation, a global pandemic, struggle, fear, joy, love, and deep introspection.
In the years to come, I hope we all remember who we are and the importance of our intimate communities and the environment.
