This is the complete edition of all seven stories in the Ghost and Detective McNab set in modern day Edinburgh, Scotland. They recount the investigations of the young, naïve Detective Constable Hamish McNab and his ghostly mentor and friend, the late Dr. Joseph Bell, the real-life inspiration for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's great fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes. The stories often draw on the myths and legends told in parts of Scotland. The stories are:
A MISPLACED BODY - introduces the first meeting of McNab and the ghost of Dr. Joseph Bell.
THE LONE PIPER - an army officer, is found dead at the base of the walls of Edinburgh Castle. Suicide or murder?
THE DRAGON'S TOOTH - a night-watchman at the National Museum of Scotland finds a body riddled with the tooth marks of an ancient dinosaur. How?
THE SELKIE OF CALARÒIN - a young fisherman has been found in his bed dead of a heart attack. Bell finds that the young fisherman had really died of drowning. But how?
THE BLUE CLAIDH - Detective Sergeant Olivia Kerr has gone missing and Bell enlists the aid of another Spirit to find her.
THE DOMINIE'S DOWNFALL - at the Saint Triduana's School for Young Ladies an unpopular teacher has fallen down a stairway and broken her neck. An accident or murder?
THE WHITE LADY of INVERCOILTIE - in this new story, McNab investigates the drowning of an unpopular researcher found in Lock Ness. Was he dragged into the lock by "Nessie", the Lock Ness Monster? The ghost helps the young detective and investigates the innocence of the White Lady, a fellow Spirit who haunts the nearby castle.
