Description
Roxy is new to the street.
New streets like to think they're neutral. They aren't. They run on habits, assumptions, and quiet rules enforced long before anyone admits to enforcing them. Dogs test boundaries. Owners react too late. Noise fills the spaces where order should be.
Roxy notices.
Each morning she patrols the block, observing behaviour, correcting what needs correcting, and letting the rest fall into line. A bark here. A pause there. Leads tighten. Space opens. Compliance arrives early, before anyone realises it was required.
This isn't a mystery to be solved.
It's a system learning how to behave.
The First Patrol is a noir-inflected short novel about authority, perception, and the quiet certainty of a small dog who believes order is her responsibility. What begins as observation becomes pattern. What becomes pattern begins to hold.
The patrol ends here.
The consequences continue.
