Mora fights to break the curse of thorns cast upon her. She won't give up since the spell also altered her three best friends. She hides them away in an old fortress, hoping the secret spot will keep them safe until she finds a solution. Their ticking clock is running out, evident by the magical pen narrating her life. Once the ink runs out of the pen, she and her friends will perish.

Brody wants to travel, to start a new life free from his past demons. The last thing he wants to do is settle in one place, or be trapped in any situation that will hurt him again. Yet when he stumbles upon the dangers lurking in an ominous mansion, the thrill of adventure magnetizes him to its secrets. When he meets the clever witch living inside, cursed with flesh of thorns, he knows there's more to her story and won't leave until his curiosities are satisfied.
