Description

Joseph never quite understood humans. Even before he was turned by the villain Ezra back in antebellum Kentucky, there were so many human things he didn't understand.

Now his story unfolds in full and heartbreaking detail, from his childhood to his betrayal by Ezra, up to the modern day, and his newfound Daniels family. Now he's got new family to try to understand, both human family and vampire. Football is particularly confounding to him, but he thinks he can get by.

There's so much to try to keep up with though! Joseph is tempted to throw in the towel and go back to the woods to his animal friends, where he doesn't need to bother with things like clothes and small talk.

But when sinister rumors about animal disappearances surface in town, Joseph finds himself drawn into the fray.

Will he abandon the human race forever? Will he find the call of the wild irresistible? Or will he find a place amongst the humans after all?
