Far in the future political correctness survives and is still used as a tool by the cynical. An ambitious politician manoeuvres herself into the role of Admiral of a squadron of space-faring warships with all-woman crews, with the intention of advancing her political career with the glamour that always follows military success.
Disaster follows instead, because she is a far better politician than she is an Admiral, and her timid incompetence pitches crews far more talented and professional than herself into a situation from which they have no hope of escape.
