Description

""Three Things"" is a short story written by Mary Raymond Shipman Andrews. The story revolves around a young couple named John and Mary, who are deeply in love with each other. John is a successful businessman, while Mary is a housewife who takes care of their home and children. One day, John receives a letter from his old friend, who is dying and wants to see him for one last time. John decides to leave immediately to meet his friend, leaving Mary alone at home. As the day progresses, Mary begins to worry about John's safety and starts to feel anxious. She decides to write a letter to John, telling him about her worries and how much she loves him. However, she is unable to express her feelings in words and ends up writing only three things that she wants to tell him. Meanwhile, John reaches his friend's house and spends some time with him, reminiscing about their old days. He then decides to head back home, but on the way, he meets with an accident and dies on the spot. When Mary receives the news of John's death, she is devastated. However, she finds solace in the fact that she had written a letter to him before he left, and she decides to read it out loud at his funeral. As she reads the letter, she realizes that the three things she had written were the most important things she wanted to tell John - that she loved him deeply, that she was proud of him, and that she would always be there for him. ""Three Things"" is a heartwarming story that highlights the importance of expressing our feelings to our loved ones before it's too late. It reminds us that life is unpredictable, and we should cherish every moment we have with our loved ones.1918. The Forge in Which the Soul of a Man Was Tested.
